MERILISA® T4 ELISA is a quantitative enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the measurement of Total Thyroxine (T4) in human serum or plasma. T4 is the primary secretory product of the thyroid gland. Total T4 (protein-bound + free) reflects overall thyroid hormone production and is a key parameter in thyroid function panels alongside TSH and T3.

How It Works

Competitive ELISA: Wells are coated with anti-T4 antibody. Patient T4 competes with enzyme-labeled T4 conjugate for antibody binding. TMB substrate produces a color reaction inversely proportional to T4 concentration in the sample.

Clinical Significance

• Elevated T4: Hyperthyroidism, Graves' disease, thyroiditis, excess thyroid hormone replacement
• Low T4: Hypothyroidism, pituitary failure, protein deficiency (TBG reduced)
