MERISCREEN® Dengue IgG/IgM Ab — Rapid Serodiagnosis of Dengue Infection
MERISCREEN® Dengue IgG/IgM Ab is a one-step, rapid immunochromatographic test for the differential detection of IgG and IgM antibodies against dengue virus in human serum or plasma. It enables serodiagnosis and differentiation between primary and secondary dengue infections — critical for clinical management and prognosis of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS).
How It Works
The test cassette contains two separate test lines — IgG (GAC principle) and IgM (MAC principle) — coated with recombinant dengue envelope proteins representing all four serotypes (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, DEN-4). When 5 µL of patient serum/plasma is applied with assay buffer, dengue-specific antibodies migrate by capillary action and bind to the immobilized antigens, producing visible colored bands within 20 minutes. A built-in control line validates each test run.
Key Advantages
Dual Antibody Detection: Simultaneously detects and differentiates IgG and IgM — distinguishes primary infection (IgM dominant) from secondary infection (IgG dominant, higher DHF risk)
All 4 Serotypes: Detects antibodies against DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 using recombinant envelope proteins
Minimal Sample: Only 5 µL of serum or plasma required — ideal for pediatric and resource-limited settings
Rapid Results: Visual read at 20 minutes — no instruments, no electricity, no trained personnel needed
High Performance: Sensitivity ≥95%, Specificity ≥95%
Robust Storage: Stable at 2–30°C with 18-month shelf life — no cold chain dependency for tropical field use
Clinical Applications
Point-of-care screening in fever clinics and OPDs during dengue season (July–November)
Serodiagnosis from Day 5 onwards (after NS1 window) — complements NS1 antigen testing
Differentiation of primary vs. secondary dengue — guides clinical triage for DHF/DSS risk
Pathology lab and diagnostic center screening panels
Government NVBDCP surveillance and outbreak response programs
Blood bank donor screening in endemic regions
When to Use This Test
IgM antibodies appear by the 5th day of symptoms and persist for 30–60 days. IgG antibodies appear by Day 14 in primary infection and as early as Day 2 in secondary infection. This test is most effective from Day 5 onwards and is recommended alongside NS1 Ag testing (RPDDAG-01) for complete dengue diagnostic coverage across all stages of infection.
