Polypropylene suture, 7-0 — monofilament, non-absorbable, blue, double-needle, for microvascular and fine cardiovascular work. This is Meril's Filaprop polypropylene — code prefix PPL.
Why polypropylene at this gauge
- Monofilament — passes through the vessel wall with the least drag, and leaves no braid for bacteria to track along
- Non-absorbable, so the anastomosis is held permanently
- The standard choice for vascular anastomosis and for contaminated tissue
