Product details
Silk suture — braided, natural, non-absorbable. Still the suture most surgeons find easiest in the hand: it sits where you put it and the knot stays put.
Where it is used
- Ligation — the everyday tie
- Securing drains, tubes and lines
- Bowel serosa and general surgery, where handling matters more than tensile life
Silk is braided, so it is not the suture for a contaminated field — use polypropylene there. For a permanent repair carrying real load, use polyester (Mericron XL). Both are stocked here, as is Filasilk, Meril's other silk line.
